Study Notes- Revelation 12

Revelation 12
-Woman represents the Church
-This church is the Jewish church which refers to the birth of Jesus

Genesis 37:1-10
-Joseph's family was the Sun (father), Moon (Mother) and the Stars (Joseph's eleven brothers).

Revelation 12:1
-The sun represents God
-The moon is the Bible because the moon reflects the light of the sun
-The stars represent the twelve tribes of Israel (Joseph's brothers)

Revelation 12:3
-Satan is the great red dragon
-the seven heads are the lion, the bear then the leapord-like beast with four heads, then the fourth beast with one head
-the fourth beast had ten horns
-the seven crowns are the seven kingdoms (represented as horns on the beast).  there were ten kingdoms but three were plucked up

Revelation 12:4
-a third of the angels were cast out of heaven with satan
-Satan waited for Jesus to be born so he could get rid of him

Revelation 12:6
-talking about the 1260 days prophecy
-We know that there were 30 days in a Jewish month and 360 days in a jewish year... THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE!!!

Revelation 12:7-9
-Once again, talking about Michael and his Angels and the Great Controversy

Daniel 10: 1-12
-jesus is called Michael when it refers to the Great Controversy of Heaven

Revelation 12: 14
-The context tells us  that a time is a year.  Linguistic support doesn't help you here!!!

Revelation 12:13-17
-Satan can't kill Christ but he can persecute God's Church (the woman)
-Satan brought armies and people against God's Church
-The ending of persecution was when the US came around.  US was the first place that gave religious freedom, freedom from persecution

Revelation 17 Notes

Revelation 17

Revelation 17:1-Judgement of the great whore

Women-
-A corrupt woman= corrupt church
-A pure woman= pure church

Revelation 17:2-Spiritual adultery
-not JUST Catholicism is being talked about. Even Protestantism is being controlled

Papacy-Political powers of the world have combined with the false Papal system
-In that process the world has received these false doctrines
.-The Papacy believes that once they have control of the world then Jesus will come back
-It will join with the politic powers to dominate

Revelation 17:3-The Church was in the wilderness for a thousand two hundred and threescore days (1260 prophetic days) Rev_12:6 which went from 538 to 1798
-When John who wrote this chapter he was carried away into wilderness- the end of this period
-The Papacy ruled from 538 to 1798
-This is the second half of the 2520 for Israel (Pagan Rome is the first half)
-The Church was being trampled on first by Paganism then by Papalism
-The Scarlet Coloured Beast represents the kingdoms of the Earth

Powers-Two basic powers exist, Satan and God
-They are parallel because Satan has fake versions of the truth
- Satan puts many falsehoods in Christianity

Revelation 17:4-5-Woman shows wealth of the Papacy
-This shows the Papacy's outward deception and display which hides an inward corruption
-60 million Christians were killed by the Catholic church during the inquisition

It has been a while since we have had a study so we will now resume our place in Revelation, the seven-teenth chapter. I will once again be posting up our study notes so you can follow our studies even without attending. Let the study begin!

Revelation 15 and 16

Revelation 15

So far in Revelation we have seen so many things. Now would be a good time to review all that we have learned... which is so much!

We see that Revelation 15 is another vision from Revelation_15:1

Revelation_15:2 :
The sea of glass is the laver (wash basin)
This laver was the one that priests would wash themselves in before entering the temple and wash offerings as well
These lavers could be quite large

Malachi_3:1-8Malachi_3:17-18 Malachi_4:1-6
According to these verses, the righteous get purified during the judgement of the wicked
Read Great Controversy chapter 24

Song of Moses

Exodus_15:1-19 Deuteronomy_32:1-22
In these verses the people are being scattered
We're not sure what the song of the lamb is about. We think that it is the song of the hundred and forty four thousand

Revelation 16:1-15
The seven last plagues
This is about the time of trouble (chapter 39 of Great Controversy)
In the seven last plagues, evil angels are going to be part of the destruction like in the story of Job, just with God's permission
When God closes probabtion, God is showing that he knows our hearts. The righteous will remain faithful to God and the wicked will not change

The Plagues (Pouring out of the vials)

First five plauges are litteral the last two are symbolic. They all have some symbolisim in them, anyway
Revelation_16:2 sores and dieses
Revelation_16:3 Sea became blood that killed the living things in the sea
Revelation_16:4 Rivers and fountains of water beocme blood
Revelation_16:8-9 The hot sun
Revelation_16:10-11 The kingdom was full of darkness
Revelation_16:12-16 The waters are dried up
Revelation_16:17 A voice from the throne in heaven saying "It Is Finished"

The sixth plague
The sixth plague says that the waters are dried up. Waters represent people.
The king of the east was Cyrus who set the Israelites free from Babylon
Satan uses tricks to get people to follow him by saying he is god
Th battle of Armageddon is in the sixth plague

Armageddon
We must be wide awake like the wise virgine
We need to understand the pouring out of the seventh vial in order to survive Armageddon
There is a great hail

Hail
The end of Babylon and the beginning of God's Kingdom
The stone that hits the feet of the statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream is "made without hands" which usually reffers to hail

Today we are studying Revelation 15. I don't know what it's about but I guess that's why we're here.

Rezooming Revelation 14 (14:13-20)

The Sabbath
Rev_14:13, Exo_20:8-11, Mat_11:28-30, Heb_4:1-11

-The Israelites couldn't enter into God's rest because they didn't have faith.

-The sabbath rest is given to us as a sign between us and God that might make us Holy. Eze_20:12

-The Sabbath is just between us and God, it isn't for show to other people.

Isa_58:12-14

-The foundation that needs to be built up is our understanding of prophecy. The breech in God's law is the Sabbath law.

-In Revelation 14:13 the "rest from their labours" is the Sabbath.

What does it mean to die in the LORD?
1Co_15:15-30Baptism represents the death of the old man and being born as a new man

Rom_6:1-4

-So when it says to die in the LORD it refers to death to self, entering into God's rest and ceasing from our own works.
-Sabbath is the rest of sin.

Rev_14:14-This is the coming of Christ.
-He has the crown and the sickle

Revelation_14:15-20-We have two different harvests happening here.

Harvest of Wheat-This is the harvest of the righteous at Jesus' second coming.

Harvest of the Grapes-This is the harvest of the wicked at Jesus' second coming.
-The grapes were put in the "winepress" of God's wrath and the blood was very deep. This is to say that there are lots of wicked that are going to be destroyed. Ezekiel_39:17-23, Isaiah_66:24

Revelation 14... again

Happy Sabbath.
This evening we will be continuing on in Revelation 14. There is so much in God's word that we have to take our time to understand and comprehend all we can. I will be posting our study notes from this study so that those who couldn't make it tonight can still get all that we, or all that I, learned. I will take as detailed notes as I can. Study Notes

Revelation 14

~History will repeat itself.
Revelation 14:1  The hundred forty thousand were from the twelve tribes of Israel (non literal- different list refering to character traites.) They had a mark on the forehead- refering to Christ's character. They accepted God's word willfully.

First Fruits
The first fruits were people raised from the dead at Christ's ressurection and second coming. 1Corinthians15:16-20  James 1:18

Revelation 14:4-5  The hundred forty four thousand were not defiled by any woman. A woman is a Church.They have no sin.    

Jacob's Trouble
The time of Jacob's trouble is the persecution that the hundred forty four thousand will suffer. Jeremiah 30:3-10 Great Controversy pg.615-620 explains about Jacob's trouble and humble account of sin to an angel of God. God needs people to go through these experiences. Great Controversy pg. 626 paragraph 4                                                                                

Revelation 14:6-7  This angel is delivering the first angels message as the first angel.To follow God, fear him and keep his commandments (esspecially Exo_20:8-11).
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Revelation 14:8 This is the second angle's message declaring Babylon is fallen. Churches closed the door on the message in June 1842  proclaimed in 1843.

Revelation 14:9-12 This is the third angle's message which is to the followers of Satan warning about the mark of the beast.

Time of the End
Daniel 11:36-40: The king of the south are athiests (Egypt) The king of the north is the Papacy(Rome). Thessalonians 2:1-9

Studies Resume

We're Back!!!
Starting today, September 3, we will resume having our upper-room bible studies.
We are on Revelation 14 dealing with the mark of the father and the three angles messages.

Last Study

Today is our last study before the summer. We will be studying Revelation 14. Since Christmas until now we have only done 14 chapters of Revelation. We have learned so much though, about the woes, the holy place and so much prophecy has to offer. We hope to see you on Friday nights in September.

New time for the Upper Roon studies

The upper room studies will now begin at 7 pm on Saturday evenings. We will be studying the second woe of Revelation 9 on April 30th. Hope to see you there.

April 23

Today we will be covering as much as we can of Revelation 9 once again. There is lots there and we are trying our best to understand it. We'll need God to give us the knowledge to understand his word.

Study continues Saturday April 23rd @ 6 pm

We will continue our Study of Revelation chapter 9. The woes are not that bad but the trumpets....

Study time

Our study time has been changed from Friday nights at 7 pm to Saturday night at 6 pm. we are now studying on Revelation 8.

March 18

Earlier we posted that we would be continuing our study on Revelation 7. We have changed that and now we will be studying the 2520.

March 18th Study

We will be continuing our study on Rev 8

Study for March 11

On the next study on March 11 we will be looking into God's word and we will be studying on Revelations 8. Chapter 8 is dealing with the seven trumpets. We will look further into it and finding the facts of the Bible, all next week at the regular time.

March 4 Study

This week we will be continuing our study on Revelation 7. We have been studying this for about 3 weeks now and we have gotten quite far. Tonight we will be looking into the great multitude. I hope we all take something from this tonight.

Study topic for Friday Feb 18th

We will be continuing our Study of Revelation chapter 7. We managed to get through the first three verses. there is a lot there. It would be good for all those who attend to be prepared.

Rev 7:1-17  And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.  (2)  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,  (3)  Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.  (4)  And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.  (5)  Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand.
